GLoria-XXL uses a 48-bit local buffer interface to enable simultaneous useof 3D features, such as front and back buffer, Z-buffer, stencil, fast clearplanes, and graphics ID. ELSA GLoria-XXL also supports stereoscopic 3Dimaging through a VESA-standard connector.

The growing gap between rapidly increasing complexity anddeclining design productivity is causing a paradigm shift in the wayintegrated circuits are designed and verified. Formal methods andformal verification technologies, an emerging segment of the EDAindustry, support just such a shift and promise to reduce the timerequired to verify the design of systems on a chip. Abstract plans to usethe Intel investment to significantly reduce the complexity-productivitygap by developing and introducing tools for rapid verification andmethodologies for advanced system-on-a-chip design.

The investment will allow Abstract to expand its operations, whilemoving from an R&D focus to a market driven company

Beaverton, Ore.–Feb. 2, 1998–Analogy, Inc. introduced Powerexpress NT, the first application-specific design and analysis software product in Analogy's new Express family of products. Designed specifically for power designers, Powerexpress NTnot only meets the needs of power electronics designers for accurate, high-performance simulations, but also includes a selected model portfolio specific to their industry requirements. Powerexpress NT integrates Analogy's Saberdesigner NT technology for design creation and graphical waveform analysis with the Saber mixed-signal simulator at a very competitive price.

Powerexpress NT includes the new Powerexpress Template Library, which incorporates simulation models for power electronic designs. The Powerexpress Template Library includes all-new averaged” models for leading power converter design topologies. Thosemodels allow designers to simulate 100( faster in the early design process phase, when evaluating alternative design topologies and compensation.

In addition, Powerexpress NT is the first Analogy product to offer Modelexpress, a new service permitting designers worldwide to browse through Analogy's component models library and acquire up-to-date simulation models through Analogy's Web site.

Because of those difficulties, designers using Spice-based simulators often have to settle for simulating their designs piecemeal, slowing down the design process, and forcing extensive use of time-consuming breadboarding to verify power supply designs. Compared to other simulators, Saber is distinguished for its ability to simulate complete switch-mode power supplies.

Powerexpress NT features many of Analogy's leading capabilities for power converter design. Analogy's commitment to model development produced the first physics-based model for IGBTs and a series of advances in nonlinear magnetics modeling. ThePowerexpress Template Library has those models available, as well as highly accurate models for power MOSFETs, power diodes, PWMs, and other vital power converter components. Component models based on those and other templates go beyond other model libraries by including stress ratings and statistical information for complex devices, helping designers determine if a design can be manufactured in quantity at the lowest cost to meet product specifications.

Sales billed (shipments) in January 1998 increased 23.5 percent over January 1997, and orders booked for January 1998 showed an increase of 11.4 percent over January 1997.

The information provided includes data for both rigid and flexible PWB manufacturers that participate in IPC's monthly statistical program. These participants represent over 40 percent of the U.S. domestic printed wiring board market. IPC releases this book-to-bill information monthly. (Statistics for the previous month are not available until the last week of the following month.) It is also posted on IPC's Web site.
